Introduced at Baselworld 2019, the 5520P added a 24-hour alarm, with its own hammer and gong, to Patek Philippe's Travel Time system, a complication whose two-time-zone pusher traces back to Louis Cottier's world-time work for Patek in the 1930s and 1950s. Patek built an entirely new movement for it, the self-winding Caliber AL 30-660 S C FUS, and filed four patent applications covering the alarm mechanism after five years of development.
