Commissioned in the early 1980s by Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman and sold through Asprey of London, this was the first Daytona Rolex ever set with stones — a full pavé diamond dial with sapphire hour markers behind a baguette-diamond bezel — and the company gave it a dedicated reference number because nothing like it existed before. Only around eight examples are known. One sold at Sotheby's in October 2025 for $5,230,100, the highest price paid for a Rolex since 2024.
