The 6262 and its black-bezel twin the 6264 were the last hand-wound Daytonas built with pump pushers, arriving just as Rolex was moving the line to the water-resistant Oyster case. The 6262 kept the engraved metal tachymeter bezel of the 6239 it replaced. It sold slowly and was dropped quickly, which is why it is among the scarcest Daytona references.

- The 6262 and 6264 differ only in bezel: engraved metal on the 6262, black acrylic on the 6264.
- The 6262 was fitted with pump pushers, not screw-down pushers.
- Its case is not an Oyster case, so 6262 dials read 'Cosmograph' without the word 'Oyster' that appears on 6263 and 6265 dials.
