Patek Philippe · Nautilus
Known in the trade as the Jumbo.
Gérald Genta's Nautilus, launched in 1976 with a case shaped after a ship's porthole and its hinges. At 42mm it was enormous for the era, hence 'Jumbo', and Patek's advertising leaned into the audacity of a steel sports watch priced like a gold dress watch.
The 3700/1A was produced from 1976 to 1990.
The Patek Philippe 3700/1A runs the Cal. 28-255 C, an automatic movement.
Look up the watch's serial number in the Watch Safe registry to see whether a record exists or a theft flag is attached. A registry search identifies records for a specific serial; it does not authenticate the watch. Authentication is performed in person by an independent expert authenticator, and Watch Safe records and publishes the result.
