IWC's 125th anniversary in 1993 was marked by reissuing the 1939 Portugieser, and the reissue is the reason the line exists today — the original had sold so poorly that the model had effectively lapsed. IWC again used a pocket watch movement, the Calibre 9828, because again nothing else would fill the case honestly.

How do I check a IWC Schaffhausen IW5441 with Watch Safe?
Look up the watch's serial number in the Watch Safe registry to see whether a record exists or a theft flag is attached. A registry search identifies records for a specific serial; it does not authenticate the watch. Authentication is performed in person by an independent expert authenticator, and Watch Safe records and publishes the result.
