Patek Philippe unveiled reference 565 in 1938 as one of its first wristwatches built with a screw-down caseback for water resistance, using case-making patents sourced from Taubert & Fils, who had taken over François Borgel's earlier waterproof-case work. At 35.5mm the case was large for a Patek dress watch of that period, and production ran until 1952.
