Patek Philippe introduced reference 5153 in 2009, reviving the officer's-watch format, a hinged dust cover over a display back, in a 38mm case with straight, rolled lugs. It replaced reference 5053, growing the case by about 2.4mm, and added a guilloché inner dial disc that hadn't appeared on an officer's watch from Patek or anyone else before. In 2013 Patek used the 5153's case as the starting point for reference 5227.

How do I check a Patek Philippe 5153 with Watch Safe?
Look up the watch's serial number in the Watch Safe registry to see whether a record exists or a theft flag is attached. A registry search identifies records for a specific serial; it does not authenticate the watch. Authentication is performed in person by an independent expert authenticator, and Watch Safe records and publishes the result.
