It's the only Big Crown model built on the newer calibre 1530 rather than the 1030 of its predecessors, and the last Big Crown reference before crown guards arrived on the 5512. That combination — new movement, old case style — makes it a transitional reference collectors treat as its own rarity, distinct from the 5508 and 5512 it sits between.
