Vacheron's entry into the steel luxury sports watch category in 1977, designed by Jörg Hysek at 24 years old and named for the company's 222nd anniversary. It is the direct ancestor of the Overseas, and the notched bezel and integrated bracelet are its signature. Collectors call it simply the 222; 44018 is the steel Jumbo's actual reference.

Look up the watch's serial number in the Watch Safe registry to see whether a record exists or a theft flag is attached. A registry search identifies records for a specific serial; it does not authenticate the watch. Authentication is performed in person by an independent expert authenticator, and Watch Safe records and publishes the result.
