Richard Habring built the split-seconds mechanism in this watch onto a Valjoux 7750 base using a design simple enough to be produced in quantity, which had not previously been true of rattrapante chronographs — they were hand-finished haute horlogerie or they were nothing. It made the complication affordable for the first time. Habring later left IWC and founded his own firm under his and his wife's name.
