The line's defining feature is invisible: a soft-iron inner cage around the movement that shunts magnetic fields around the escapement rather than trying to resist them. It is how instrument makers solve the problem, and it is why these watches have solid casebacks — a display back would break the enclosure. IWC has been building to that logic since the 1930s, when a cockpit was full of magnets and a wrong reading was a navigational error.
