Breitling · Chronomat
The Chronomat came before the Navitimer and gave it the idea. Breitling patented a circular slide rule for a wristwatch bezel in 1940 and launched this watch on it, aimed at engineers, scientists and anyone else who did arithmetic for a living — the name is chronograph plus mathematics. The aviation-specific scales that made the Navitimer famous came a decade later, built on the same principle.
The 769 was produced from 1942 to 1955.
The Breitling 769 runs the Venus 175, a manual movement.
Look up the watch's serial number in the Watch Safe registry to see whether a record exists or a theft flag is attached. A registry search identifies records for a specific serial; it does not authenticate the watch. Authentication is performed in person by an independent expert authenticator, and Watch Safe records and publishes the result.
