Collector slang for the honest, character-building wear a vintage watch accumulates with age and use, distinct from damage or poor condition.
Wabi describes cosmetic wear collectors find desirable, such as scratches, dial texture, or bracelet stretch consistent with decades of genuine use. It isn't a technical or authentication term, and it shouldn't be used to wave off inconsistencies that are actually signs of wrong parts or a misrepresented watch; the distinction between charming wear and a real originality problem still has to be made carefully.
