Generic Parts

Unbranded replacement components, such as an unsigned crown, used in place of a manufacturer's branded original part.

Authentication note

Why this detail matters.

Generic parts are common on older watches serviced by independent watchmakers over the years, and are not automatically evidence of fraud, but they should be disclosed as replacements rather than presented as original. An authenticator notes where generic parts appear so the record reflects the watch's actual composition.
