Aftermarket Parts
Components made by a third party rather than the original manufacturer, used to replace or modify an original part.
Authentication note
Why this detail matters.
Aftermarket parts aren't inherently fraudulent, since many are used openly for ordinary repairs, but an aftermarket part sold or represented as an original manufacturer part is a misrepresentation. Authenticators check construction, finishing, and markings against genuine manufacturer parts to identify parts that didn't originate with the brand.
