A short printed or stamped code on a watch's presentation box indicating its production period, used to help date the set.
A box code can help cross-check whether a box's production period is plausible for the watch it's presented with, since a box code from years after or before a watch's serial-implied production date is inconsistent. It's supporting evidence rather than proof, since boxes can be separated from their original watch and paired with another one.
