The third of the three El Primero references Zenith launched in 1969, alongside the round A386 and the tonneau A384. The dial is what separates it: a smoked tobacco gradient, dark at the edge and light toward the centre. It is among the earliest fumé dials in modern watchmaking, a finish the industry only came back to decades later.

Before you ask.
When was the Zenith A385 produced?
The A385 was introduced in 1969.
What movement does the Zenith A385 use?
The Zenith A385 runs the El Primero 3019 PHC, an automatic movement.
How do I check a Zenith A385 with Watch Safe?
Look up the watch's serial number in the Watch Safe registry to see whether a record exists or a theft flag is attached. A registry search identifies records for a specific serial; it does not authenticate the watch. Authentication is performed in person by an independent expert authenticator, and Watch Safe records and publishes the result.
