The fluted-bezel Datejust, in two-tone Rolesor with a steel case and gold bezel, and one of the longest-running references Rolex has catalogued at better than twenty years. The fluting began as engineering rather than decoration: early Rolex bezels were screwed down onto the case with a tool, and the ridges are what the tool gripped.
