The 1945 Datejust was the first self-winding chronometer wristwatch with a date window, launched for Rolex's 40th anniversary. It is the most widely produced Rolex and the one the brand's identity actually rests on — more configurations of dial, bezel, bracelet and metal than any other line, which is exactly why its reference numbers are worth reading carefully.
