Movement
The mechanical or electronic engine inside a watch that measures and displays time, distinct from the case, dial, and bracelet around it.

A watch's movement should match what the reference is documented to contain. Counterfeits frequently use a generic movement inside a case built to imitate a specific model, so authenticators check the movement's caliber markings, finishing quality, and construction against genuine references rather than trusting the exterior alone.
