Date Window
The aperture in a dial showing the current date, typically driven by a date wheel or disc positioned beneath it.

Why this detail matters.
A date window's size, position, and the printed disc's font and color are consistent within a given reference and era, so a mismatched font, uneven alignment, or an incorrectly colored date disc can indicate a swapped dial or an incorrect movement. Whether a reference has a date window at all is also a basic check against what that model is supposed to be.
