The original Superocean, built for a market Breitling had not served before. Its chronograph hand sweeps slowly rather than once a minute, so a diver reads elapsed time directly off the central hand instead of hunting for a subdial through a mask — which is why collectors call it the Slow Motion. Two hundred metres of water resistance was a serious figure in 1957.
