Abraham-Louis Breguet invented a great deal of what a wristwatch now takes for granted: the tourbillon in 1801, the overcoil balance spring, the shock-absorbing pare-chute, the gong spring that made repeaters practical. The Classique line carries his visual signatures — coin-edge cases, guilloché dials engraved on a rose engine, and the hollow-tipped Breguet hands — and they are signatures because he drew them, not because a designer revived them.
